Train under experienced professionals at a high volume surgery center

SICS FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

Course Objective

Our primary objective revolves around instructing candidates in the practice of manual Small Incision Cataract Surgery (SICS), serving as a foundational skillset for advancing to phacoemulsification proficiency. Our program predominantly emphasizes hands-on training, with candidates receiving guidance from Dr. Ramesh Agarwalla, Dr. Isha Agarwalla and their proficient team.

Course Duration

This is a 3 month short term SICS training program. A candidate will get an opportunity to perform 75 surgeries through this duration.

Fees

Rs. 1,50,000 for Indian Nationals
USD 3,500 for Foreign National

Highlights

  • Drishti provides access to a cutting-edge wet-lab facility for training in animal eye procedures. Candidates will have the opportunity to practice in this facility before undertaking real surgical operations.

  • Surgical procedures will be conducted under the supervision of seasoned instructors until the surgeon attains the necessary proficiency to operate independently.

  • Postoperative assessments of cases will be conducted by experienced consultants.

  • Surgeries will take place in a state-of-the-art operating theater.

  • Participants will have the option to document and retain the steps involved in the SICS surgeries they perform.

  • Structured instructional sessions covering various aspects of SICS will be offered, incorporating instructional videos.

  • A logbook will be supplied for participants to maintain records of their cases for personal reference.

  • Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate of achievement.

PHACO FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

Course Objective

Our main aim is to teach Phaco to the candidates with latest technique and instruments. Candidates are exposed to different phaco machines along with a chance to interact with Dr. Ramesh Agarwalla and his team on advanced techniques and future of cataract.

Course Duration

We provide two options for the Phaco Fellowship Program:

Short-Term - 3 Months Duration

  • Participants will have the chance to conduct 75 phaco surgeries during this period.

Long-Term - 8-12 Months Duration

  • Participants will have extensive opportunities to perform SICS and Phaco surgeries throughout this timeframe

What Will You Learn

Week 1 - Week 2: Observing Phaco & performing SICS

Week 3 - Week 4: Phacoemulsification surgery under supervision

Week 5 - Week 12: Independent surgery

Eligibility Criteria

  • Qualified practicing Ophthalmologists with MS / DO / DNB degree from recognized university.

  • Both Indian & Foreign Nationals are invited to apply

  • Experience in SICS surgery is a must. Long term fellows must have proficiency is performing SICS surgery and must independently performed 700+ SICS surgeries

  • Both Indian & Foreign Nationals are invited to apply

Fees

Short Term Fellowship

Rs. 2,00,000 for Indian Nationals

USD 5,000 for Foreign National

Long Term Fellowship

Long term fellows will receive a stiped of Rs. 50,000 per month from the hospital

Highlights

  • Drishti provides access to a cutting-edge wet-lab facility that offers phacoemulsification training on animal eyes. Candidates for phacoemulsification will receive hands-on experience with the phaco machine at the facility before engaging in live surgeries.

  • Participants will have access to a range of standard and advanced phaco machines and foldable IOLs.

  • Surgical procedures will be overseen by seasoned instructors until the surgeon attains the necessary confidence to undertake independent surgeries.

  • Cases will undergo postoperative evaluation by experienced consultants.

  • The program includes a series of video-assisted lectures covering topics such as Phaco Dynamics, Phaco Techniques, Emerging Phaco Technologies, Challenging Phaco Cases, and Advanced IOLs.

  • Surgeries will take place in a state-of-the-art operating theater equipped with a high-end Phaco machine.

  • Each candidate will receive a video CD illustrating the steps involved in SICS and Phaco surgeries.

  • Maintenance of the Phaco machine will be demonstrated by a senior staff member from the operating theater team during the course.

  • A personalized logbook will be provided for candidates to document their cases for future reference.

  • Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate recognizing their achievement.
