Retina Specialist in Dibrugarh — Advanced Diabetic & Retinal Care

Diabetes can silently steal your sight. With India emerging as the diabetes capital of the world, diabetic retinopathy is fast becoming one of the leading causes of preventable vision loss — and many patients don't realize they're affected until significant damage has already occurred.

Our Retina Department is led by Dr. Chintan Desai and Dr. Mohit Garg, trained at Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya, and is committed to delivering specialized diagnosis and treatment for retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) and traumatic retinal injuries. We serve patients across Upper Assam and Arunachal Pradesh — including Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Sivasagar, Charaideo, Jorhat, and Dhemaji districts — offering the region's most transparently equipped retina diagnostic setup.

If you have diabetes and haven't had a dilated retinal examination in the past year, you may be in a high-risk group without knowing it. Diabetic retinopathy often progresses without noticeable symptoms in its early stages — by the time vision changes appear, meaningful damage may already have occurred. Early, regular screening is the single most effective way to prevent vision loss from diabetes.

Our Retina Evaluation Process

  • Comprehensive Dilated Fundus Examination — using our Indirect Ophthalmoscope (Heine, Germany), our specialists examine the entire retina, including the peripheral areas most prone to early diabetic changes

  • Digital Fundus Photography — our Digital Fundus Camera (Topcon, USA) captures high-resolution images of your retina, allowing precise documentation and monitoring of disease progression over time

  • Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) — our Zeiss (Germany) OCT system provides a detailed cross-sectional scan of the retina, measuring macular thickness and detecting fluid or swelling invisible to the naked eye

  • Fundus Fluorescein Angiography (FFA) — for patients requiring further evaluation, FFA maps blood vessel leakage and abnormal vessel growth, considered the gold standard for staging diabetic retinopathy and guiding laser treatment decisions

  • Personalized Treatment Planning — based on your evaluation, our specialists recommend the most appropriate medical, laser, or surgical treatment path
